Biography
Carl Steffens has over 30 years of training experience. He began his journey in 1992 at the University of Colorado, studying Tae Kwon Do as part of the International Taekwondo Federation. Since then, he has also trained in Ninjutsu, Philippine Combatives, and Combat Hapkido. His dedication and hard work have earned him the rank of 5th Dan in Tae Kwon Do and 1st Dan in Philippines Combatives.
Carl started training in martial arts with the goal of self-defense, exercise, and making friends. However, he discovered that he truly enjoyed teaching and helping students overcome their challenges and fears. He finds great joy in seeing his students succeed and grow as martial artists and individuals.
In addition to his martial arts experience, Carl has a fun fact that may surprise you – he grew up on the face of a mountain, with his house situated at an elevation of 8500 feet.
One of Carl’s favorite teaching stories involves a student who was initially very nervous and sometimes left class in tears being overwhelmed by his emotions. Despite this, the student refused to give up and continued to train. The student eventually overcame their fears and found success in their martial arts journey. This student’s dedication and perseverance continues to inspire Carl to this day.
